| Goals: Walehy - 2, Nemo - 3 | |||
On Sunday the 14th September Thamesmead Town beat Fisher Athletic 5-2 in a Kent Youth League Game.
Thamesmead won the toss and were given kick off but started sloppy. They got back to their usual game and started to play football. The first goal came from a really strong run from Nemo who layed it off to Walehy and netted it. Jordan made some great saves but Fisher fought back and managed to get 2 goals before half time. 2-1 to Fisher at half time.
Fisher kicked off the second half and Thamesmead got the ball back and maintained posession of the ball and turned the great passes into a 3rd minute goal by Nemo. After some changes to the squad Thamesmead got their heads down and got on with it by Nemo grabbing one straight after the incident. Walehy was brought back into the game and scored a lovely goal set up by Nemo. Just before the end Nemo finished the game after a superb run and shot into the top corner.

On a rain soaked weekend it was nice to know that our game against Glebe was not going to be called off down to them playing on a g3 surface, and when we turned up we were not disappointed! The only problem today was we had no ref down to a mix up. Games in the past against Glebe have always been close affairs, and Glebe played on the front foot for the first 20 minutes going 1 - 0 up with a good goal from Elion against Connor who was in goal for Jordan who had been injured earlier. Thamesmead had to raise their game and replied with goals from Luke and Whaola. Half time 2 - 1. Thamesmead came out the second half strong and with two goals from Frank( 1 penalty) Glebe looked to try to get back in the game but Thamesmead were playing well and Luke scored twice to complete his hattrick. In the later stages Elion scored again for Glebe and Quoc scored again for Thamesmead. Full time Glebe 2 Thamesmead Town 7. I would like to say thank you to Mark and Ivan for reffing todays game, they both done a great job under what can be difficult circumstances Report by Lee |

Thamesmead Town FC 2 - 2 Corinthians ![]() |
|||
Kent Youth League - 7th December 2008 - Bayliss Avenue |
|||
| Goals: Harry - 1, Charlie - 1 | |||
On a very heavy pitch the football was not going to be of the highest order but Thamesmead started well with a goal from Harry who was having a terrific game being just about involved in everything! Just before half time Corinthians got a penalty when Ryan put in a tackle on the center forward and the ball got stuck under his body only for the ref to give a penalty??? which they then converted. Half time 1 - 1. In the second half Frankie got sent off dissent, this seemed to spur Thamesmead on to go on and get another goal by Charlie. It was getting tough for Thamesmead without the extra player but in a ten minute spell they could have scored more but for save by the keeper and some glaring misses, but as per usual we were to rue our oppotunities when Corithians first hit the post with a freekick eventually scoring a well struck shot out of scramble that Thamesmead failed to clear. On the whole we've lost the chance to stay with the leaders on which was a very frustrating day!!! A break from the league for the next two weeks with cup games against Dover Rangers and Folkstone Invicta so lets go into xmas on a high! Report by Lee |

Although we won on a big score we didn't play the kind of football that we know we are capable of, the goals were shared amongst Haydon, Waley & Connor and to be fair were taken well! Dover tried to the very end and fought hard but were always chasing the game. Away to Folkstone next week for the cup quarter final which will require our upmost attention! In the shadow of the Channel Tunnel we played out this tough match with Folkstone for a semi place in the cup. It was a very cold morning and some of our players did look like they were interested but after a tight 1st half it remained goaless. 2nd half started with a goal by Hayden with a good ball from Connor, Folkstone replied with a brillant long range effort, and then disaster we gave away 2 quick goals to once again being unable to clear the ball ! Wale got 1 back but we couldnt break their defence. I know we could have been better but well done to Folkstone.

Kent Youth League - 4th January 2009 - Bellingham Sports ground |

| Goals: | |||
A big crowd turned up for our game with Bridon Ropes mainly because everyone elses had been called off! So it was a chance for both teams to put on a show, for the first fifteen minutes we were going along with that plan creating three good chances in front of goal, but as per usual they all went every where except the goal!! Bridon then finished off the half stronger, scoring and working harder. Half time 1 - 0. Mark and I gave the boys what we thought was an constructive teamtalk and sent the boys out, ten minutes later we were 3 - 0 down !!! We had quite simply given up! Bridon were knocking the ball well and if some of their finishing was better the score would have been much worse! Full time 4 - 0. There were some good performances from Harry, Jamie and from man of the match Tommy Rose who if the team had half of the commitment he put in we may have made a game of it ! Well done to Bridon and thank you for your hospitality given out hot drinks to all supporters of all clubs watching etc. yours a very disappointed Lee |

QF Kent County Cup - 11th January 2009 - Bayliss Avenue |
|||
| Goals: Nemo, Wale, Hayden | |||
A place in the last 4 of the kent cup was at place when we played Corithians on the first team pitch at home. We got off to a lively start with hard work from Jamie & Harry in midfield fighting for every ball and creating chances for the forwards, but on Corithians first attack they scored from us not dealing with clearing the ball. We replied with a well placed shot from Nemo only to fall behind again from the same error !! The game was now going back & forth with chances falling to both teams but at half time Corithians shaded it 2-1. After a stern team talk Thamesmead came out on the front foot playing attacking football in pursuit of the equalizer, Frankie who had switched to centre mid was now showing some of his early season good form supplying the forwards with good passes, in which one finally payed off when Wale got on the end of one and powered home the goal ! Then soon after we went in front from Hayden which lead to a nail biting climax in which Jordan pulled off 2 great saves. Full time 3-2. A much better effort today but it must be every week lads! Unlucky to Corithians today who took part in a very entertaining cup game.

| Goals: Quoc, Wale, Connor, Hayden, Luke - 2 | |||
On Friday I thought this game would never had gone ahead due to the heavy rain, so when the call came this morning after another night of rain that we were on I was over the moon!(sorry football pun) After loads of sweeping surface water and forking the pitch we were ready to go. The first half was a bit of a non-event with Thamesmead having a lot of the ball but not having much of an end product when it mattered but just before half time Quoc got on the end of a cross to put us one up. A just reward for the effort he was putting in. Half time 1 - 0. In the second half we sent on Wale, Luke and Charlie, Wale was on fire from the start scoring on the turn plus setting up Luke twice for two welcome goals for him, he also found time to nab a second for himself. Haydon also scored a great goal to make it six. Although they were pinned back for spells in the game Crayford did create two good chances that brought two good saves from Jordan. In the end it was a good team peformance that will put us in good stead for the Ashford semi in two weeks. I must say thanks to Keith for making the pitch playable when alot of todays other fixtures were called off, also thanks to Andy whose teams spirit was great to the end. The man of the match went to Harry who never put a foot wrong all day. Full time 6 - 0 |

Kent Youth league - 1st February 2009 - Blackheath |

| Goals: Quoc, Wale, Frankie, Nemo - 2 | |||
It was roughly a year ago when we played Glebe in the semi final of the league cup, at half time we were 5 - 1 behind and looked completely out of the tie, but then in an amazing second half we managed to get a 7 - 7 draw eventually losing on penaltys! So at half time today we are 3 - 0 down, goalkeeper had been taken to hospital with a broken wrist after 5 minutes, Mark and I were thinking can these boys prove that lightining does strike twice? In the first half we were woeful, Blackheath were first to every ball in all areas of the pitch and deserved their 3 -0 lead. Changes had to be made and a few home truths had to be said ! The second half started and we were a totally diffrent team, Jamie came on to help Harry combat the midfield, Frankie went to left back to add more shape and on came Nemo and Wale up front. After a goalmouth scramble Quoc was first to pounce with a shot to get one back, then Nemo got another after threading himself through the centre backs. Just as everything was looking good Blackheath got a free kick from a clumsey tackle from Ben, which was put away by Blackheath. It seem to spur us on with Wale attacking and getting a free kick, Frankie came up with a great shot into the top corner to put us back in it again ! With time ticking away Nemo popped up with a second goal to make us level, to be quite honest I would have been happy with a draw but not the boys ! Wale just missed getting on the end of a Nemo cross, and got back up to get into another attack from which the goalkeeper saved from Nemo, only for it to fall to a on coming Wale to slot it home ! Seconds later the whistle blew and some how we had got the 3 points! What a game and what a second half performance from Thamesmead ! Well done to Connor for going in goal and doing a good job and also well done to Tommy for getting man of the match when he was so ill he sat in the changing room at the end struggling to breathe ! Next week we are off to Ashford in the Kent Cup semi final to see if we can match the feat of local rivals Dartford and VCD who made finals today in their London and League cup semis. |

| Goals: Wale -2, Nemo - 2, Hayden - 2, Tom - 1 | |||
Today was in fact our biggest game of the season due to our ups and downs in the league, a semi final against Ashford Borough in the Kent Youth Cup. We felt confident although we had Connor in goal for the injured Jordan, Quoc was ill with flu, our two new singings Joe and Mick were not legible to play and Luke only getting back from a thirteen hour coach trip from skiing an hour before kick off ! We started really well going on the attack from the start creating chance after chance and it was only a matter of time before we scored. I must admit I dont know what order the goals came because I was making sure we were all doing our jobs, but at half time we were 4 - 0. The second half was pretty much a repeat of the first with us attacking and bagging 3 more goals. The scorers were Wale 2, Haydon 2, Nemo 2 and Tommy with a penalty. A brilliant team performance from all twelve players today ranging from the 3 forwards who were a constant threat from start to finish, the midfield who scrapped for every ball, the defence who played good football when called upon and Connor who couldn't have hoped for a quieter day ! Taylor came on to show some of his skills and nearly scored just heading wide ! The man of the match was a close call but went to Jamie whose getting better every game he plays. Well done today boys, I'm really pleased for you all, and hope you all have a great day at the final !

Back to the league this week at home against Phoenix. We started with loads of the ball and were making chances but just not being able to score, which was down to stout defending and some good goalkeeping from Phoenix. The breakthrough came just before half time from Tommy who got on the end of a Frankie corner. The second half followed the same pattern with loads of possesion, but Phoenix defending as a team. Still it was a very entertaining game. Full time 1- 0. Well done to Joe and Mick on their debuts, and to Ben for the man of the match.

Sevenoaks Town was this morning's venue for us when we continued to chase the top teams in the Under 14' s North Division. We got off to a great start knocking the ball about and playing flowing football all over the park, it was only a matter of time before we scored and it came in the form off a shot by Charlie from a Frankie cross. That soon turned into 2 - 0 when Wale got himself on the score sheet, then came our only lapse in concentration when we failed to deal with a ball over the top in the area in which they put away. Straight from the kick off we went on the attack and by the end of the half Wale had bagged two more goals to complete his hattrick. Half time 4 - 1. Three changes were made at half time and although we continued to play good passing football we only managed another goal which came from Luke who never gave up his chance when it came. Full time 5 - 1. Another great team performance from the boys today and very pleasing to see that training methods are paying off in games. Man of the match went to Walediniho, not only for his hattrick but for his defending header in Sevenoaks goalmouth in the dying seconds !!!!

Kent Youth League - 1st March 2009 - Bayliss Avenue |

Today saw a real 6 pointer between Fisher and us to cement 3rd place and start to challenge the top 2 places. Both teams had players missing before the start due to one thing or another but it was a very even first half with Thamesmead mostly threatening from corners and Fisher having a glaring chance just before half time. Half time 0 - 0. The second half brought 2 changes up front with Luke and Nemo coming on and Ryan going to right back, we began to talk more and play as a unit. Harry and Jamie were beginning to get to grips with the midfield and the 2 boys up front were making the Fisher defence go on the back foot a lot more, we then swapped Frank and Harry to see if Frank could hit wide balls in behind them, this paid off when we got a corner from a long pass in which Nemo headed the first goal in. The second goal came from some neat passing by Frank and Luke in which Luke made it 2 nil, not long after we won a fortunate penalty which Tommy put away very well. Subs were made and back on came Quoc and Taylor. A quick move from a throw in saw Nemo cutting in from the left to set up Quoc who fired the ball into the net to make it 4 -0. Full time 4 - 0. Thanks to Grant and his team who always give us a tough game. Man of the match went to Mick. A great result today as it gives us a bit of daylight from Fisher and puts us level on points with Bridon Ropes who still have 2 games in hand, but we are going in the right direction. On another note, 'SCOUTS' if you want a player do it the right way ! Not direct to the boy ! We wont stop anyone trialing, just ask !! Nice work Palace !

Sevenoaks Town were the visitors today at Bayliss Avenue where we hoped to continue our winning streak. Due to injuries and suspensions we were 3 players down today, so with a bit of shuffling from Mark and myself we sent out the boys. We started well and were 1 - 0 up from a mistake from the goalie which Walex pounced upon and put away, soon it became 2 - 0 when Charlie scored straight from a corner. From another corner up popped Jamie to head his first goal for the club. Half time 3 - 0. The second half started with us not keeping the ball the same way we did in the first half and Sevenoaks began to raise their game and were rewarded with goal which came from good work from their forward. Just as buses come along in twos, so Jamie managed to get another headed goal ! After that the game was a bit scrappy due to the weather, in which we managed to squeeze all 4 seasons into 70 minutes football. Full time 4 - 1. Next week we entertain Bridon Ropes in which should be tough game which could have great importance to both teams in title terms. Losing 4 - 0 hurt so badly last time, so lets all get involved!!

Kent Youth League - 15th March 2009 - Bayliss Avenue |

| Goals: Hayden - 1 | |||
On what was the nicest day of this year we entertained Bridon Ropes in what was to be a tight game at the top of table. We knew we couldn't afford to play as poor has we did last time and we had to be up for it from the very start. The first half was tough with either team battling all over the park and canceling each other out, but both teams did manage to create a couple of half chances, Half time 0 - 0. A couple of changes were made in the second half to bolster the forward line so we could try to keep a bit of pressure on Bridon, but we were always vulnerable to Bridons fast forwards, this was nearly the case on a few occasions but for some great defending from the back four. The midfield was just starting to win personal battles and we began to push Bridon back in the full back areas. With a bit of route one football a ball was knocked up to Nemo who battled with the full back for the ball in which the defender was bring Nemo down just in front of the area, the ref then produced the red card saying that he was the last man ! After Thamesmead kept plugging away when Hayden hit a low shot into the bottom corner to put us 1- 0 up. The rest of the game continued in the same way with both teams trying their best but with a some great last second tackles and us going close it remained 1 - 0. A great performance today from everyone in the squad, when we scored the whole squad joined in the celebration which as managers is nice to see ! We've put ourselves back in the mix down to hard work and team spirit. Bridon were a tough nut to crack and even though they lost today they will be there or about at the end of the season. To the boys who never featured today, Mark and i apologize and we will be looking to get you involved next week. Next week its Corithians away so lets not let all todays hard work go to waste and put in the same sort of effort ! Man of the Match was Tommy which was close this week due to so many great performances.

Before I start this report I must apologise for it being short due to me having to leave at half time for a mothers day dinner date. Corithians was always going to be a hard game having played them twice this season in close encounters. After last weeks result we knew that with a bit of luck and us keeping our winning run going we could still be in with a chase for the title. The first half started with a very positive approach from Thamesmead attacking all angles with Wale and Luke leading the line, the defence was as solid as it has been for a few weeks now and the midfield was first to every ball. The first goal came from a quick break from Luke who layed a measured pass to Wale who slotted it away. The second scored by the left foot of Charlie was well worked across the front line and well put away. Half time 2 - 0. The second half i heard was very drull, but we were not in any danger of losing our lead. Full time 2 - 0. With V.C.D. losing today we have a great chance of trying to at least nick second spot at the end of the season, and with us still being top for the second week running we have the points in the bag, so you never know ! Todays man of the match went to Joe who was first class in every department.

Hi all, sorry I've not been doing reports lately but i lost a bit of interest in boys football due to the interference from other clubs in our affairs. But now it's all sortedand the only damage was our defeat to Dartford in the Kent Cup Final, which was a shame because that game had been 2 years in the waiting and could have been so much of a better game than it was, but its done and dusted now so well done to Dartford. We bounced back with a 3 - 0 win against Cray Wanderers in which Connor got 2 goals and Haydon got the other, man of the match went to Ben. This week we travelled to Tonbridge Angels and took part in a pretty tough affair, their early season defeat had put a lot of fire in their bellys and some strong tackles were being dished out all over the field, we went in half time 1 - 1 with a looping lob from Connor hitting the target, they got a penalty. Half time team talk was short and sharp ! get out there and get stuck in ! That they did, competing in every department and showing that we can show a strong side to our game if reqired. Man of the match Connor got 2 more goals to complete his hattrick and Luke got the other. Full time 4 -1. Well done boys we are still in the hunt, next week its V.C.D. which should be a close one. To all that tried to knock us, we are still in there and still involved !
